The letters behind the result

This tool uses the Pythagorean mapping: A=1 through I=9, then J=1 through R=9, then S=1 through Z=8. Expression uses every letter. Soul Urge uses A, E, I, O and U. We treat Y as a consonant; other calculators may use a different rule.

Spaces, apostrophes, hyphens and periods are ignored. Accents are folded (é becomes E). Use a Latin spelling for names in another script; this tool does not transliterate. Totals reduce to 1–9, with 11, 22 and 33 kept when reached.

The number describes a spelling within this convention. Changing a name’s spelling changes the calculation; it does not establish that someone’s personality or luck will change.
